Descanso Gardens is a botanical garden spread out over 150 acres near Glendale in Los Angeles County.
Open Enrollment Prices for tickets start at $15. Discounts of $11 are available for students and seniors. Kids aged 5 to 12 pay $5, while those younger than 5 get in for free. Membership at Descanso Gardens provides access to exclusive perks. Prices for the seven available membership tiers start at $70 and go up to $1,000. The annual number of free admissions to the gardens is vary for each plan. There are also savings at the cafeteria, the gift store, and on occasional events. Members can enter at 8 a.m., even though the official hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Except for Christmas Day, you can visit the gardens any day of the year.
A sizable parking area greets visitors immediately upon arrival at the main gate. The ticket office, cafe, and souvenir store are all located within the main entrance. Unless you are a member, you will not be allowed into the gardens without first purchasing an entry ticket, which will then be scrutinized. Descanso Gardens is home to more than just the gardens itself. Gardens visitors can ride on a miniature diesel train called the Enchanted Railroad. The track goes all the way around the garden promenade. The train operates from 10 AM to 4 PM for a fare of $5. There is a tea house in the Japanese Garden where special events are sometimes hosted. Descanso Gardens features an Amphitheater on its main lawn.
