Glendale Galleria

The Glendale Galleria is a sizable regional shopping center as well as an office building that can be found in the central business district of Glendale, California, in the United States. After Lakewood Center and Del Amo Fashion Center, this mall, which first opened its doors in 1976 and has a total retail space of 1.6 million square feet, is the third largest in all of Los Angeles County.

In its original configuration, the exterior of the Galleria consisted of an unadorned and windowless brick finish. This kind of building was a reflection of the style of other shopping malls that were constructed all throughout the United States between the years 1960 and 1970.

A significant remodel of the Galleria began in April 2012 and lasted until December 2012. The goals of the refurbishment, which were designed by Kevin Kennon, included creating a more contemporary appearance, enhancing circulation and access, and enhancing signage. The building's façade were modified by the addition of a variety of metal panels and meshes, the majority of which were created out of white marble and black granite. The remodeling project came in at a cost of $57.5 million and was finished in November of 2013.

The American pop singer Billie Eilish utilized Glendale Galleria as the location for the music video for her song "Therefore I Am" in the year 2020.

Since it first opened its doors in October 1976, the indoor mall has been an important contributor to the development of downtown Glendale. The Galleria was originally based around four department stores, but it later brought the Galleria II expansion, and in 2013, it went through substantial renovations that were headlined by the opening of a two-story Bloomingdale's.

As of right now, the 1.6 million square feet of retail space is occupied by more than 200 stores.

The Galleria's history as a shopping center includes a number of firsts for a variety of different retail businesses. Along with the mall's first expansion in 1983, the first Panda Express restaurant and the first Disney Store both opened their doors a few years later. In 2001, the Galleria became home to one of the very first two Apple Stores in the world. Some Apple fans have gone to great lengths to visit the store in order to acquire a receipt that identifies it as location 001.

Since 1982, Mayor Paula Devine has made her regular shopping trip to the Galleria, and she is aware of the reasons that large shops are keen to collaborate with the city.
